Strategic collaboration on advanced 3D technology between Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES) and Johnson & Johnson MedTech Denmark
CAMES and Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Denmark, have established a strategic collaboration which focuses on cutting edge 3D technology.
The technology
Pre-operative planning with only 2D CT or MRI scans can be limited in accurately identifying patient-specific anatomical variations prior to an operation. The 3D technology within the collaboration makes it possible to use existing medical imaging, including CT or MRI images, to create interactive 3D models for vital organs. This may aid in the localization and approximate measurements of suspected nodules and tumors as well as relationships to surrounding anatomical structures. This enables improved pre-operative planning with the ultimate aim of improving patient outcomes.
The stategic collaboration
The strategic collaboration provides a unique opportunity to validate the technology within a training and simulation setting. Therefore, the first Danish launch will be at CAMES where the technology will be showcased to leading surgeons. CAMES has already build strong competencies within 3D simulation, and therefore the collaboration may lead the way for further innovation within 3D-printing, surgical training, planning and simulation. The collaborators will gather data and feedback on the user experience with the technology.
The strategic collaboration between CAMES and Johnson & Johnson MedTech will initially focus on the 3D technology - however there is already dialogue on other subjects for example robotics and digital solutions. This strategic collaboration will lead the way!
